Inhotim Institute

Located in the suburbs on a rural Brazilian city, Inhotim Institute is one of the most important gardens in the world, but not because of its flora, but the expensive, world-renowned artwork it houses. What started out as a private garden with over 500.000 m² of land, opened to the public in 2008 and nowadays receives over 200.000 visitors a year. The Institute was created by Bernardo Paz, who’s married to one of Brazil’s most prolific artists, Adriana Varejão, and nowadays is the most important contemporary art centre in Latin America, and one of the most important in the world. It holds artwork by the likes of Cildo Meireles, Vik Muniz, Matthew Barney and Zhang Huan, and attracts visitors with the sole purpose of visiting the Institute, since the city itself has less than a thousand habitants and no tourism industry.

Platform 13 – Boudicca’s videos

Boudicca is by far one of the most interesting, creative English brands, who’s been quietly exploring the boundaries between fashion, art and music for years now. We’ve been browsing their amazing website Platform 13, where we’ve been lost in for the last 30min, and ran into some amazing videos, putting the brand on the ranks of multimedia projects such as SHOWstudio. Damien Hirst at Chatsworth House

You have only until the end of this month to check out the amazing Damien Hirst sculptures at Chatsworth House, near Chesterfield. A winged horse and a unicorn, entitled “Legend” and “Myth”, are displayed in the garden, along with other sculptures from their Beyond Limits exhibition. The sculptures face away from each other, showing their insides on one side. Hirst explains that, “In a way, science brings religion down to earth and to cut open mythical creatures and expose them as no different to mortal horses is somehow still magical. it’s kind of like exploding a myth to make it real.”
